Chase Hubler – Drawn Apart
1. Arcane? – The spectator randomly selects a card. You attempt to pick up on something from the spectator, and ask him to hold on to your hand as you begin drawing on a notepad. Upon completion, you look surprised to see the spectator actually caused you to drawn an ancient arcane symbol. You slowly, visually manipulate this symbol to form the symbol of the spectator’s card. They can keep everything.
2. Spectator’s Masterpiece – The spectator picks a card or thinks of a random letter/number. You then ask the spectator to draw some random lines on the back of your business card, and then to sign the business card. Upon examining the lines, you see something strange about them. You then manipulate the lines that the spectator just drew to reveal their thought. They can keep everything.
3. Contorting Caricature – You draw a stick figure on a sheet of paper as you ask the spectator if he/she has ever seen a contortionist. The paper can be felt and signed by the spectator. The spectator sees the stick figure’s neck stretch slightly as you pull off it’s head, and leave a pulp in it’s place. You then cause the stick figure to move it’s arm, and grow a third leg. They can keep everything.
4. Corny Pickup – You ask a woman if anybody had ever used the corny pickup line, “If I could rearrange the alphabet, I would put U and I together,” on her. You write the alphabet on a sheet of paper as you discuss how horrible, yet possible, the line is. You have your helper feel and sign the paper, and then you visually push the letters U and I together in the middle of the paper. They can keep everything.
5. 2D Multiplying Rabbits – You draw yourself an assistant on a sheet of paper, wearing a top hat and possibly holding a cane. The paper can be felt and signed, and you proceed to push off your assistant’s hat to reveal a rabbit sitting on his head. Now, you turn the paper over and begin to hand it to your spectator, and to their surprise, a sponge 3D rabbit falls in to their awaiting hand. As a final kicker, the paper is shown to no longer have the rabbit on it. A killer lead in to a multiplying 3D rabbits effect. They can keep everything.
